Guide to Events

Overview

Events allow you to organize live experiences, meetups, workshops, or online sessions within your community.

Events can be used to:

  • host webinars or online talks

  • organize in-person meetups

  • run paid workshops

  • gather members around shared interests

  • build recurring community engagement

You can create events either at the space level or inside specific sub-spaces depending on who the event is for.

Where Events Appear

Events can exist in two places in your community.

Space Events

Events created in the General → Events section belong to the entire space.

These events are visible to all members who have access to the space.

Typical examples:

  • community-wide meetups

  • global webinars

  • product announcements

  • open networking events

Sub-space Events

Events can also be created inside a sub-space’s Events section.

These events are specific to that sub-space and only visible to members who have access to it.

Examples:

  • city-based meetups

  • private mastermind sessions

  • program-specific workshops

  • cohort sessions

This allows you to run multiple event streams inside one community.

Event Types

When creating an event, you can choose different ticketing models depending on how members should participate.

Free Events

Free events allow members to join without payment.

These are commonly used for:

  • community gatherings

  • networking sessions

  • onboarding calls

  • open webinars

Free events are the easiest way to encourage participation.

Paid Events

Paid events require participants to purchase a ticket.

These are typically used for:

  • workshops

  • masterclasses

  • premium training sessions

  • exclusive events

You can set a fixed ticket price during event creation.

Donation-Based Events

Donation events allow attendees to contribute voluntarily.

Instead of a fixed ticket price, members can choose how much they want to pay.

This model works well for:

  • community-supported events

  • charity sessions

  • creator-led meetups

  • community contributions

Event Locations

When creating an event, you can choose how participants will attend.

EKOS supports four different event location types, allowing you to host events both online and offline.

Each location type determines what information you need to provide during event creation.

In-Person Events

In-person events take place at a physical location where attendees join on site.

When selecting In-person, you will need to provide:

  • Location name

  • Location address

The system will use this information to display the venue details and map on the event page.

Typical examples:

  • meetups

  • conferences

  • workshops

  • networking events

Best practice:

Use a clear venue name such as the building, coworking space, or office name.

Example:

Location name

Impact Hub Istanbul

Address

Istiklal Street 123, Istanbul

Hybrid Events

Hybrid events combine physical attendance and online participation.

This format allows members to either:

  • attend in person

  • join remotely

When selecting Hybrid, you can add:

  • Location name

  • Location address

  • an online participation method

Online participation can be provided through:

  • EKOS Virtual

  • External URL (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.)

Hybrid events work well for:

  • conferences

  • community gatherings

  • global communities with local hubs

EKOS Virtual Events

EKOS Virtual events are hosted directly inside the EKOS platform.

Participants join the session without leaving the community.

When using EKOS Virtual, you can choose the event type:

  • Video → participants can see and interact through video

  • Audio → voice-only conversation format

This format is ideal for:

  • community conversations

  • live discussions

  • Q&A sessions

  • quick meetups

Benefits of EKOS Virtual:

  • no external meeting links required

  • members stay inside the community

  • easier access for participants

URL (External Meeting Link)

You can also host events using an external meeting platform.

When selecting URL, simply provide a meeting link.

Supported platforms include:

  • Zoom

  • Google Meet

  • Microsoft Teams

  • YouTube Live

  • any external streaming platform
